Note from Committee

On behalf of the Hall of Fame Committee, it gives me an enormous amount of pride and pleasure to present the Arizona Hispanic Sports Hall of Fame Recognition Celebration. This event is to honor outstanding athletes, role models and our community leaders. It is a deserved recognition for their successes and achievements. The individuals honored, most importantly, are the people that laid the foundation for the many Hispanics who have followed in their footsteps. It is because of their accomplishments and their desire to succeed that the windows of opportunity were opened to the many of us in Arizona. Not only in athletics, but also in our proud cultural and traditional activities, we celebrate their many accomplishments and successes in our communities.

Recognition of these great individuals is long overdue. This is the celebration that recognizes and honors these individuals. While a few of these sports heroes reached the highest levels of their sport, many of them did not receive the opportunity to showcase their skills at a higher level due to various factors: World War II, the Korean War, local economics or a lack of educational opportunities.
